Entering grades: 2-3
Mini Camp is a 3-day/2-night overnight camp experience for campers going into 2nd or 3rd grade. Mini campers will live in the two largest Village cabins with their counselors and operate on their own schedule, participating in water games, arts & crafts, Bible study, and more!
An overnight camp experience can be hugely beneficial to children’s overall development. Benefits include:
Social and Emotional Growth: For many of our Mini-Campers, this will be the first time they have spent time overnight away form family. Overnight camps provide a unique opportunity for children to develop essential social and emotional skills and our summer camp staff is trained to help them navigate this new independence. Camp provides an environment where young campers often encounter their first experiences of being responsible for themselves where they make decisions away from their parents.
Outdoor Exploration and Physical Activity: Camp Shalom is a beautiful property on the Maquoketa River. Campers spend 90% of the camp day outdoors breathing fresh air, being active, and developing a greater appreciation for God’s creation. Spending time in nature has been shown to reduce stress, improve concentration, and increase creativity. It also encourages physical fitness and an appreciation for the environment, fostering a lifelong connection to the natural world.
FUN: The focus is on fun at Mini-Camp. By focusing on fun, the campers will experience success being away at an early age, and have the foundation for even more personal growth in the future.
