Challenge Course
A challenge course is fun. How else would you describe climbing a 30 ft. wall and soaring down a zip line? But a challenge course is much more than a fun activity. It is a team building process designed to nurture growth and communication.
Participants navigate a series of mental, physical and emotional challenges to encourage personal growth, teamwork, communication and a sense of accomplishment. Processing the experience through discussion is a key element that nurtures a deeper sense of growth.
Program sequence is important to the Challenge Course experience. Each element is presented in progressive fashion allowing groups to help prepare for future challenges.
Group Initiatives – provide a time for warming-up and allows participants to become more familiar with each other. It is during this time that group goals are discussed along with factors to consider as the group moves forward.
Low Elements – are generally close to the ground and require group members to serve as spotters to ensure participant’s safety. Low elements are team-based challenges.
High Elements – are challenges that take place above the ground and require participants to wear harnesses, helmets and include a belay system for safety. Our high elements offer both team and individual challenges.
Environmental Encounters
Canoeing – groups have two choices, to launch from Camp Shalom or to be delivered up river and canoe down to Camp Shalom. Canoeing is available when weather and conditions are appropriate for safe travel.
